UK: Orange boiler suits in London, Belfast and Edinburgh
11 January Join us in calling for the closure of the military prison at Guantánamo Bay as we mark the 6th anniversary of the first ‘war on terror’ detainees being transported to the camp. Join the protest in London, Belfast and Edinburgh.
LONDON
To mark the 6th anniversary we want as many people as possible dressed in Guantánamo-style orange boiler suits (provided by Amnesty), kneeling outside the US Embassy in London. Anyone can attend - please wear warm clothes but avoid bringing a bag with you.
We will assemble in the South East corner of Grosvenor Square promptly at 9:30am for dressing. The demonstration will take place inside the square from 10:30.
BELFAST
To mark the 6th anniversary we want as many people as possible dressed up in Guantánamo-style orange boiler suits, and leading a chain-gang through Belfast City Centre. Anyone can come to the demonstration - no costume required.
EDINBURGH
To mark the 6th anniversary we want as many people as possible dressed up in Guantánamo-style orange boiler suits, kneeling down outside the United States’ Consulate in Edinburgh. From the consulate we will parade along Princes Street towards the Mound and repeat the action in the open space beside the National Gallery.
Anyone can come to the demonstration - no costume required.
Can’t make that date? Join us in Manchester on 28 January
