Greece: 5* hotel “Guantanamo”. Indefinite Holidays!

Greece: 50star hotel. Indefinite holidaysIn Athens, Amnesty International’s activists gathered in Syntagma square, opposite the Greek Parliament and staged a street theatre re-enactment of Guantánamo, ironically as a holiday resort from which you can never return.

Protestors in orange jumpsuits sat in stress positions among deckchairs, plastic swimming pools, plants, beach umbrellas while a fake US guard was watching over them. Other activists were holding signs with the message “6 years is too much. Close it now”, while others were giving leaflets and talking to people passing by.

The event has had a great media attention until now, also due to prominent Greek Parliamentarians making very strong statements against US legal detention.

Sad, but effective use of irony. Maybe Bush could use a vacation to Guantanamo after office if it hasn’t been torn down yet. Let’s hope it’s gone by then and let’s hope we never elect anyone so opposed to human rights again!

Who else would call attention to this injustice if not Amnesty International!!!
    A great idea …

George W. Bush would never take a 6-year holiday in a cell like that…
I’ll weep for joy the day he leaves the White House!

    I totally agree with you.
Someone who is supposed to fight agains Terrorisme should know better than that.
Can’t wait till the day he is out of thw white house as you say, I dont think he deserves the tittle as President, considering his actions that has had quonseconses for many many innocent people. In my eyes he will never be a president.

Together we can tear it down :)
Keep up the good work all of you!
