AI Luxembourg organized a public action in the main square of Luxembourg Ville, starting at 12h30 until 13h30. Eight activists were dressed up as Guantánamo detainees with orange jumpsuits and black hoods and other activists supported the action with big banners.

Italy: Parliamentarians and orange boiler suites

The Italian section has been holding demonstration in front of the American Embassy in Rome and other important Italian cities: Firenze (in front of the American consulate), Bologna, Ancona, Foggia, Milano, Venezia.

Australia: Nearly 300 Activists in orange

Guantanamo Bay protest Sydney AustraliaOn a global day of action six years later, supporters in orange jumpsuits gathered outside the U.S. Consulate in Sydney’s Martin Place to represent the nearly 300 detainees remaining in Guantanamo Bay.

Activists wearing orange jump suits formed the figures 275 representing the approximate number of detainees still held in Guantanamo Bay.

USA: Join the protest in front of the White House

On 11 January, activists will rise up in Washington D.C. against illegal detentions at Guantánamo and elsewhere.

This action is part of a worldwide protest denouncing torture and unlawful detentions. At U.S. embassies and other prominent locations around the world, including Great Britain, the Netherlands, Spain, Ireland and Greece, activists will gather to call for the closure of Guantánamo and the end of illegal US detentions.
